pears are getting to be in season right now... they are a little firm on the tree still, but we picked some to try them out in this very easy and delicious dessert...

you will need: 6 pears 1/2 cup sugar 1 Tablespoon pure vanilla extract 1/4 cup brown sugar 1 cup almonds (with skin on, or sliced... doesn't matter) 1 cup of flour 1/2 stick of butter (or 4Tablespoons if using homemade butter) and an oval 2qt. baking dish

directions: start the pear filling -peel and slice thinly the pears, then saute them in a pan with 1/4 cup of water and the sugar... let simmer for about 8 minutes — or until softened white pears are simmering, make topping -finely chop the almonds + add flour + 1 tsp. salt + brown sugar... mix thoroughly -cut butter to almond mixture — until it forms a crumbly meal -preheat oven to 400*
back to the pear mixture -add vanilla to simmered pears and pour into baking dish

-crumble almond mixture over the top + bake in that preheated 400* for 20 minutes

serve with vanilla ice cream
*enjoy*
