Journey of Quilting

weed for thoughts...

Weeding is a chore, yes, but we all have to do it... from time to time...

We had an unexpected visitor to the farm this weekend, and he hadn't been here all summer, and described to me (while I blushed) that when he pulled up to our farm, he slowed down to like 3 miles per hour, and thought he was entering Monet's Garden or something...
that had to be one of the most wonderful comments anyone has EVER given me...
Throughout the day, but always in the morning with my coffee, I walk the gardens... glancing over the weeds, and enjoying the beauty of the plants, the sunshine, or even the cool mist of the morning...

I simply cannot put into these pathetic words how enjoyable a Potager can be...

it has taken over 8 years of calloused hands and an aching back to achieve what I have done thus far... and it isn't even CLOSE to be what I long for it to be...

but it takes alot of weeding... every day is a necessity... even if you see that one single long piece of grass through the daylily — pull it out immediately — obviously... I am certainly not talking ALL about the weeds in my garden...

this morning, while actually weeding in the garden, I realized, I like weeding... I like seeing the imperfections... and I especially like ever so carefully pulling the whole weed up from it's roots never to return in that exact spot again... it doesn't mean that it won't grow unnoticed somewhere else... but that's okay... I'll pull it out again...
it relaxes me...

and after all the weeds (that I saw) have been removed, there are still more weeds out there (there always will be)

funny thought... you all see pictures of my garden, and some of you have given me very generous compliments, but you don't see the weeds by just looking at the garden... and neither did our friend who stopped by this weekend...

and that's okay... because we shouldn't care about the weeds... we all have plenty of our own in our own gardens...
