Do any of you want to look around my Pantry? Well... let me show you what we did!
Hilariously, this is the only (digital) "before" picture I could find... husband there having a GREAT time working (he seriously is like this)...
Please, bear with me when I try to explain the "before" you see:
— the drywalled wall you see was another door to the upstairs, and where he is sitting (that little alcove) was a door to the basement... it was the corner of doors...
— so what we did was closed off that door to upstairs, moved it forward into the kitchen, enclosed it with drywall, and then established the original entry to the basement in a whole other area (I will show you in a future post)...
We both love working together, and this is what we've created:
These Italian tiles were once underfoot in a wine cellar my husband reconstructed for a client... they are also used as the "back splash" in our wine bar~
This is just a little pillow I made from an antique French dish towel
that so lovingly was embroidered with and A
When we have company we light candles in there, set out the wine glasses and it's not unusual to actually invite others into our pantry for wine!
Everyone loves a cozy spot no?
He created a very unique wine rack using two enormous antique brackets and custom designed the wood piece that fits on top — it holds just enough for a gathering... (the supply is in the cellar)
My favorite Mexican pottery is showcased in the wine bar... love the birds
Corks from all the gatherings and preserved in a glass hurricane, and dates and events are written on some of them that were memorable to the pallet...
Now for the not so very exciting, but very rewarding part of my pantry... where everything is kept ready at hand and organized by group:
Rice... Beans... Pasta...
I usually shop at my local organic food co-op and they sell rice, oats, and all of that in bulk, and then it gets stored in glass containers...The baskets hold candles, and small votive holders, and when spring actually arrives, all of the bulk items you see will be transferred into air tight containers...
at this time of year, we have run out of tomatoes gosh darn it... hence the All natural Red Gold you see
Being that this is a room that does not have any natural light to heat the room to an undesirable temperature, we built bins to hold potatoes, onions, garlic, and apples in the fall...
I also store bags in there for shopping and recycled materials, as well as egg cartons for our farm fresh eggs... they are just super handy...
Sitting outside the door is my Hungarian Grandfather's sausage maker
that I plan on using someday... it works like a charm...
The walls have a stucco technique that is painted a warm glazed gold. I truly hope you enjoyed my little tour!!
